Installation Guide
Install in about five minutes
Your eSIM arrives by email as a QR code the moment you pay. The install itself is quick: you scan the code, add the eSIM to your phone, and set it as your data line. Do this at home before you fly. Your plan only starts when you first connect at your destination, so installing early costs you nothing and saves the airport scramble.
One handy tip before you start: keep the QR code open on a second screen (a laptop, tablet, or a friend's phone) so your phone's camera can scan it. If you only have the one phone, you can still add the eSIM manually using the details in your email.
iPhone
- Open Settings, then Mobile Service (or Mobile Data on some versions).
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your second screen.
- Label the line something clear like "Simju Travel" so you can tell it apart from your home number.
- Set the travel eSIM as your Mobile Data line.
- Turn on Data Roaming for the Simju line only. Leave your home line's roaming switched off to avoid any charges on it.
Android
Steps vary a little by brand (Samsung, Google Pixel, and others), but the flow is the same:
- Open Settings, then Connections or Network, then SIM manager or Mobile network.
- Tap Add eSIM or Add mobile plan, then scan the QR code from your second screen.
- Name the line "Simju Travel" so it is easy to spot.
- Set it as your preferred line for mobile data.
- Switch on Data Roaming for the Simju eSIM only, and keep your home line's roaming off.
Before you fly and when you land
- At home: install the eSIM over Wi-Fi and label it. Nothing starts ticking yet.
- On landing: make sure the Simju line is your data line with roaming on, then toggle it on. Your plan begins the moment it connects to a local network.
- Your home line stays put: keep your physical SIM active for WhatsApp, iMessage, and calls on your usual number. The Simju eSIM handles data.
A couple of things worth checking
Your phone needs to be eSIM compatible and unlocked. Most handsets from 2019 onward support eSIM, and you can confirm yours on our compatibility page. Simju plans are data-only with hotspot sharing, so you can tether a laptop or tablet from the same line.
