Getting started with SimJu
Everything you need to know before your first eSIM β from buying to landing abroad with data.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built directly into your phone. Instead of inserting a physical plastic SIM, you scan a QR code in your phone's Settings app β it loads a local data plan onto your device instantly, from anywhere in the world.
How it works in 3 steps
Choose your destination & plan
Browse 165+ countries. Pick how much data you need (1 GB, 5 GB, 20 GB, or Unlimited) and how many days. Plans start at $3.90 β no subscription, no lock-in.
Scan the QR code
After checkout, a QR code lands in your inbox from esim@simju.com within 60 seconds. Open your phone's Camera app, point it at the code β the eSIM profile installs automatically.
Switch on at your destination
When you land, go to Settings β Cellular / Mobile Data β select SimJu as your data line. Enable Data Roaming if prompted. You're online.
β Before you buy β quick checklist
- Your phone is eSIM-compatible (iPhone XS+, Pixel 3+, Galaxy S20+, or most phones 2020+)
- Your device is carrier-unlocked β check with your home carrier if unsure
- You have access to your email to receive the QR code
- You're on Wi-Fi when you scan the QR code (not required but recommended)
Common questions
Do I need to remove my existing SIM?
No. Your physical SIM stays in place. The SimJu eSIM runs alongside it. At your destination, you simply switch which line handles data β your home SIM continues to receive calls and texts normally.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel?
Yes, and we recommend it. Scan the QR code at home on Wi-Fi β the profile installs in under a minute. Just don't activate the data line until you land. Your plan timer only starts when you connect to a network abroad.
What happens if I lose the QR code email?
Log into your SimJu account to re-download it from Order History. Or email support@simju.com with your order number β we resend within minutes. Note: a QR code can only be scanned once per device; if already installed, rescan isn't needed.
Can I buy a plan for someone else?
Yes. Purchase the plan with your email, then forward the QR code email to the recipient. They scan it on their own device. Make sure their phone is also eSIM-compatible.
