π Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked
An eSIM-compatible phone still needs to be unlocked to use a SimJu plan. Contract phones bought directly from a carrier are often locked. To check:
- iPhone: Settings β General β About β scroll to Carrier Lock. Should say "No SIM restrictions".
- Android: Settings β Connections β SIM card manager β look for a lock icon, or contact your carrier.
- If locked, contact your home carrier to unlock β most do it free once your contract is complete.
Common questions
My phone is on the list but eSIM isn't working. Why?
A few reasons this happens: (1) your device is carrier-locked, (2) the eSIM slot is already full β most phones hold 1β8 profiles but only activate one at a time, or (3) your carrier has disabled eSIM on your account. Check Settings β Cellular / Mobile Data to see your current eSIM profiles.
How many eSIMs can I store on my phone?
Most devices can store 5β15 eSIM profiles but only activate one data eSIM at a time. iPhone 13+ can store up to 20 profiles. You can swap between them in Settings β Cellular without rescanning a QR code.
Does eSIM work on tablets and laptops?
Yes β iPad Pro (2018+), iPad Air (2019+), iPad mini (2019+), and eSIM-enabled Windows laptops (Surface Pro X, etc.) all work with SimJu plans. Select "Other" when asked for device type at checkout.
My phone isn't listed. Can I still use SimJu?
If your phone was released after 2018 and supports eSIM (look for "eSIM" in its official spec sheet), it will work. If you're unsure, email us at support@simju.com with your model and we'll confirm before you buy.
